45 days to go: we’re bumping up the blog

This is a momentous time for Control Arms. We’re now 45 days away from the start of the negotiations and with no time to waste, we’re whipping our digital presence into shape. You might notice a few changes to this blog over the next few weeks and during the UN conference (2-27 July). It’s really important, for the campaign to gain momentum in the run-up to July, to build our audience and make the Arms Trade Treaty something that everyone understands as a no-brainer, from academics, to diplomats, to the ordinary woman or man in your local pub.

Don’t worry, we won’t be losing any of the technical detail or campaign background that is already present here. We understand that is very important to people who are already following this blog. But we are going to be injecting more accessible content in as well, so that our community becomes a wonderful melting pot of supporters, new and old. So from now on, there will be combination of posts, from campaign news and updates, to exciting ways to take action and share content via social media.

We’re looking forward to rolling out some exciting projects on our Facebook and Twitter and we’ll be sharing those with you on this blog. Takeovers, new logos, competitions; we’re pulling out all the stops to ensure that we create a community of like-minded people who make some serious noise on and offline to demand a bulletproof ATT.

We’ll be on the look out for guest bloggers over the next couple of weeks. Do you have anyone in mind that would fit well on this blog? Perhaps someone working closely with the campaign, in the field or at advocacy-level, or someone with a personal experience of arms trade abuses? We’d love to hear from them, so if you are thinking of someone who needs a platform for their voice, leave your contact details in the comments below.

From the team at Control Arms.
